Marriage is not for the weak of heart, as any married person will attest. It takes dedication, devotion, and a certain willingness to overlook the occasional defect in your loved one's character. . . and hope they'll do the same for you in return.
Marriage has always fascinated me, beginning with the early planning stages for my perfect wedding. I think I was five. The plans included a handsome prince, a gorgeous white dress, and a horse-drawn carriage. The fascination has continued ever since. With maturity, it even moved beyond the white-dress-and-flowers stage of the wedding itself to the reality of living the vows we made to each other in front of God, family, and friends.
After more than twenty years of living with, laughing with, fighting with, and loving the same man, I can honestly say I treasure my marriage more now than I ever thought I would way back when we were starry eyed and just starting out. It's been both more wonderful and more complicated--and far tougher--than either of us ever thought it would be, but so, so worth it.
Every marriage or life-long partnership has its challenges, some worse than others. And no one outside of that partnership, that marriage, can ever really know what's going on inside it, no matter how much a friend might confide or confess or complain. There is always more to the story, more secrets in the heart that cannot even be expressed.
That's where my fascination stems from--how do couples really make it work for the long term, not just through the joys, but through the hard times? We hear all these awful statistics about divorce and break ups and how many marriages fail every year, but what about the ones that succeed? How do they? And why? Why do some relationships fail, yet others with far more serious problems manage to battle through? It's a mystery, but a wonderful one, and one that is worthy of celebrating.
Marriage is a theme in a lot of my stories, not just as the happily-ever-after end result of a romance novel plot, but often as an active part of the storyline itself. Preserving it, repairing it, working out the problems to make it even stronger.
Readers have told me my stories don't always fit the mold of traditional romances, and maybe that's true. I am often more interested in what happens after most romance stories or fairytales end--in what happens after happily-ever-after. How do they keep that magic alive?
I love figuring out the answer to that question for my heroes and heroines, and I hope my readers enjoy the journey as well. It's my way of celebrating that most wonderful mystery of all: True love.

Romance author Chantilly White lived in Wisconsin for three years and absolutely loved every moment of it. (And not just because she's a hardcore Green Bay Packer fan, either, although that did make living in the state even more fun and special.)
As an homage to one of her favorite places on earth, Chantilly set her latest romantic tale,�Tempest,�in Fond-du-Lac, Wisconsin, on the southern tip of Lake Winnebago. She admits to taking some artistic license with the surroundings in order to serve the needs of the story and hopes the residents of Fond-du-Lac will forgive the alterations.

Real characters! Real heart!

I love LOVE LOVE Chantilly White's stories. She creates characters with so much believability, so much relate-able soul, you can't help crying with them or laughing with them. In this story, Tracey and Adam's once vibrant marriage has withered to bare twig in hard pan ground. Tracey takes the painful plunge to force a dialogue on the topic of their relationship. She can't stand ignoring the chilly, damaging atmosphere at home. The mega storm outside feels as tumultuous as her anguish and desire. Mother Nature creates the perfect atmosphere for them to face the truth in their relationship.

I felt Tracey's anxiety and pain so clearly! I love Chantilly's characters!

Emotionally and romantically satisfying!

Chantilly White has a unique talent that is displayed in all of her writings - she makes me feel as though I were a part of each passage. From the tense scene at the restaurant where Tracey is dreading the discussion that needs to happen to the treacherous drive home and the reminiscing it evokes to the rescue and reunion. Her descriptive and well-chosen words fit each scene perfectly.

The characters are so well formed. Neither are perfect, they both have flaws like everyone and when Ms. White gives us access to their thoughts, you can truly imagine yourself reacting the same way as they do.

I literally gobbled this story up. Emotionally and romantically satisfying, the story had me turning the digital page one after another.

I should be annoyed . . .

but Ms. White has once again had me reaching for the tissues even while was fanning myself. The blend of passion, emotional pain and intense love is perfection. I just don't know how she does it in a short story! I almost burned dinner a I had such a hard time leaving Tracey and Adam in that ditch, wounded and alone! But, of course, all ended well and their love and desire was wonderfully rekindled. I said it after my first Chantilly White book or two and even remains true - she is an instant purchase for me and a cherished keeper. (Just please don't make me wait so long for another one, Ms. White!)
