Excellent reference on production and inventory control

Yes, it's a bit expensive, but this book is enormous and packed full of information. At 1200 pages, you're probably not going to read this from cover to cover. Instead, you'll want to have this on your shelf whenever you need information on production and inventory management. The book is actually a compilation of chapters by various authors. On the plus side, this results in having each topic covered by an expert on that specific topic. On the minus side, it results in some redundancy from chapter to chapter and inconsistency in the quality of each chapter.
What's great about this book is that if you need information on a topic related to production and inventory management, you are almost certain to find the topic covered in this book. I definitely recommend this as the starting point in your manufacturing operations library.

From the Author
In writing Power-Up, I wanted to take what I had learned about Japanese art and culture and apply it to the video games that I had grown up loving so much, in an attempt to explain why Japan had been so successful throughout the world, from such an early point in gaming history. 
I wrote this book while living in Kyoto, Japan, just a few minutes' walk down the road from the original Nintendo Playing Cards building. It's a snapshot of that year of my life, as well as a history and profile of Japanese games from Super Mario to Final Fantasy to Ico. 
For the revised 2016 edition available from Dover Publications, I wrote the only thing that seemed appropriate: an all-new chapter paying tribute to the life and work of Nintendo's late president Satoru Iwata.

Chris Kohler currently lives in North Branford, Connecticut. He graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts in May 2002, receiving a BA in Japanese and the Japanese Language and Literature Prize. His graduation thesis was titled "The Cinematic Japanese Video Game" and earned highest honors.

As an almost 40 year old American man, I've of course grown up playing Japanese video games. This book is an interesting look at video gaming's history, and how the Japanese have had such a large part in making it what it is today. Highly recommended.

Best Book on Food Combining

I loved this book and started to do the combining like she says and Lost like 10 pounds in two weeks. I didn't have to give up good food just how I consumed it. I have gotten my sister and my friend to do it as well. It takes some getting use to as you just can' t have some things like a sandwich the old way with bread and meat so now you just think outside the box and have a lettuce wrap instead. I ate butter and olive oil and sometimes had something sweet just not with meat and only with a starch meal. Once you wrap your head around the method it is easy and so nice to eat things that on the other diets I have been on they banned. Also I have been on many diets in my life and this is by far the easiest to me. The author writes in plan language so you understand why you don't mix certain foods and how to keep this going. Really loved this book. Best one on Food Combining yet.

Extremely easy to learn!

I really enjoy this book. I got the Diamond's latest book first, 'Fit For Life', and it was also fantastic. Although it was very, VERY good, (& I still recommend it), reading this one, after, just made alot of what thte Diamond's were saying, easier to understand, I guess a bit more in 'my' kind of language! I love research, and don't consider myself slow to understand things, but I think this one is excellent. I liked the fact that it was alot less rigid, and although she gives you the 'ways' to food combine right away, she also gets detailed with why food is digested the way it is, and how to make it easier. I think that for now, I'm sticking with her books, and also Harvey and Marilyn Diamonds. Thank-you for the good reads!

Very complete - answered so many questions for me

I was very pleased with this purchase - much more so than I thought. I've purchased a good many books on food combining, but this was the most thorough by far. Before I really got through the bulk of the book, I had planned on contacting the author with a few questions I've had for a long time. The funny thing is, the more time I spent with the book, all of the answers were provided to the questions! Really awesome. Kathryn, you truly do rock!!! About the Author
Brian Baird Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and former chair of the Department of Psychology at Pacific Lutheran University.�� Dr. Baird has supervised hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students in practicum classes and field placements and has worked in treatment settings ranging from brain injury rehabilitation clinics to adolescent group homes and inpatient psychiatric hospitals.�� He brings a wealth of personal clinical experience plus a strong teaching and research background to give students the real world, practical information they need to develop and succeed as people and professionals in the helping professions.��� Beyond his clinical education and experience, Dr. Baird also served six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.�� In Congress Dr. Baird was known for principled stands, reaching across political divides and for strong advocacy for mental health care and science.� He retired in 2011 to return to Washington state where he makes his home with his wife Rachel Nugent, an economist specializing in global health, and their twin 8 year old sons William and Walter.� In addition to the present text Dr. Baird provides courses and training on communication skills and has published books on public policy and on how families can enjoy outdoors experiences together.�� In his free time, Dr. Baird enjoys outdoor activities with his family, including skiing, hiking, climbing and camping.

Not worth the money

This book was required for a first year graduate course, and I never used it. I already had encountered these tips and recommendations in applying for jobs and applying to grad school, and for how much it costs, you can get all the same information from google.

Good, but Sets High Expectations

Use this textbook for my one practicum class. It is a great book, but I feel like everything mentioned in the book is "best case scenario" and no internships/practicum places are like this. It was a little frustrating for some students who read the book, and did not have those experiences at their sites, but it does have some great worksheets in the back.

Grad school? I see multiple posts on this for grad school. I"m not even close to grad school and know that this is too elementary for grad level. This is the book we are using for my Internship on an Associate level (Pre-Social Work degree). WOW. Grad school should be much more detailed and professional.
